DAY 6

God knows every small detail of the lives of our Jesus Club Dapto (also called "Rise") Members.

PSALM 139:2. O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.
What brings meaning to a person’s existence? Some would say it is being loved that makes a life worthwhile. I also think being known. A friend of mine said that his parents lavished him with love and praise his whole life but he never felt known by them. They didn’t want to hear about his insecurities and failures. Their love lost meaning in his eyes since it was based on how they wanted to see him not on how he actually was. As a psychologist, we would say they were loving but distant parents. God the Father is not distant. Many of our Members’ speech seems random and meaningless and yet every word they say is known by God, pre-empted by Him and even scripted by Him. I often write off what our Members say as babble - random words, more an exercise of the tongue than meaningful speech. But God knows every word spoken by our Members. He knows their thoughts, their likes and dislikes, what makes them upset and what makes them smile. Not one detail of the Jesus Club Members’ lives is lost on Him. In this way, God gives our Members the kind of love that my friend wanted from his parents - to be known and in that knowing, to be loved.
Pray for Jesus Club
  • Pray that people with disabilities who come to Jesus Club and church will experience the kind of love God has for them. May God pour such love into the hearts of Christians, who in turn, will show this kind of love to people with disabilities. Pray that God will raise up more people to support the work of Jesus Club through time, prayer and funding.
