DAY 5

Learning and sharing during Buddy Groups (like bible study groups) at Jesus Club Maroubra this year.

2 TIM 2:19A. But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal, “The Lord knows those who are His.”
I regularly do presentations about Jesus Club for churches and colleges. One question that keeps cropping up is - how do you know whether Members are actually Christians? A Christian is someone who acknowledges their sin before God and embraces His free gift of eternal life, made possible through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For some Members, we don’t see much evidence that they are absorbing this message. Such Members may be nonverbal so can’t feed back to us what they’ve learnt. Some Members might be preoccupied with other sights and sounds in the room and so don’t look like they’re paying attention. One particular verse 2 Tim 2:19a reassures me that although we may not know which of our Members are Christians, the Lord has no doubt. It is as clear in the Lord’s mind who His children are, as clear as a goat is from a sheep. And God will not let any of His chosen ones be snatched from His hand. On the last day, it will be revealed who are the children of God. Until then, we keep teaching the bible and loving our Members and leave the actual saving work to God.
Pray for Jesus Club
  • Pray for our vision of an ever-expanding library of special-education bible lessons. Pray that God will gather Christians who are trained in theology or special-education to do this work. Pray that people with disabilities will be taught the bible in a way that reaches their hearts and transforms their lives.
